National Association for the Visually Handicapped

The National Association for Visually Handicapped (NAVH) is a national nonprofit organization that ensures that people with limited vision do not experience limits in living. For over 53 years, they have encouraged and trained people to use their residual vision so they can remain independent and active. They provide:

  • Training in using remaining vision and selecting and using the appropriate aids and lighting
  • An extensive selection of vision-enhancing products, special lighting and daily living aids
  • Large print educational materials for the public and information and training for professionals
  • A free large print loan library of over 9,000 books available by mail anywhere in the United States
  • A free quarterly newsletter available in large print by mail, by e-mail and on our website
  • Senior discussion groups and outreach services to seniors in the New York Tri-state and San Francisco Bay areas (where our offices are located)
  • Referrals to local eye care specialists and other resources

If you live in the Western United States (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY) you want to contact NAVH at their San Francisco location. If you live anywhere else, contact NAVH at their New York office.
