Securely Wipe Data from Your Thumb Drive

USB Drives, also known as thumb drives, key drives, pen drives or flash drives are handy little things that plug right into your USB port and come in many shapes and sizes. We love them! They are great for moving data from one computer to another or to simply store photos to show at the next family gathering.

Full size computers are a different matter. Obviously not easy to move and not likely to have all personal data removed when you physically walk away from the desk. Have you ever left personal data on a public computer? Did you worry about it? What if someone had gotten into your files? I know, you always delete your files when you're finished, but could your personal data be undeleted?

Eraser Portable is a free, open-source secure file deletion tool that can be installed on your thumb drive for secure file deletion on the go. Eraser Portable can wipe any hard drive, optical media, files, folders, encrypted data, the Recycle Bin, and any other data you want to kill. It may not be an application you use every day, but it's a great utility to throw on your thumb drive, Braille+, iPod, or other portable device for those times you do need a quick, secure delete.
