Plustek BookReader V100

By Andrew Leibs

The Plustek BookReader V100 is a reading machine that features a high-speed scanner with highly accurate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and auto document orientation. That combination guarantees error-free TTS (Text-to-Speech) output and enables readers to scan, archive, and retrieve any document, including textbooks, assignments, job applications, bills, and private correspondence.

Features of the Plustek BookReader V100

  • Embedded OCR: Software guarantees accurate scan results and automatically rotates disoriented text to save pages in the correct order and generate a clearer image.
  • SEE™ (Shadow Elimination Element) technology: Scanner uses a curved lamp to provide a clear image without shadows or text distortion common to traditional scanners, right up to the edge of the book spine.
  • Natural Voice: Provides exceptional quality speech output to make reading more enjoyable
  • Magnifying Tool: The magnifying tool can be used independently of the Book Reader system and provides a “see and speak” function while you are reading the text
  • PDF Function: Read PDF files online; create or save PDF files with the push of a button
  • Audio Filing: Save scanned documents in MP3 or WAV format; read files anytime, anywhere on portable audio devices
  • Color Contrast: Increases a document’s visual effectiveness to make reading easier and more enjoyable

  • Text Editable: Tool that enables users to edit or rewrite scanned documents.

Benefits of the Plustek BookReader V100

  • Easy to install and use for all technical abilities: Particularly helpful for the older users who may have found previous scanners complicated
  • Time and cost efficient: Seven specially designed one-touch function buttons make scanning easily accessible; transcribes correct information with no mistakes
  • Versatile: Supports all major operating systems and can be used on most personal computers
  • Flexible: Promotes creative ways to learn, e.g. scan children's written work and use results in class for teaching grammar exercises on an interactive white board
  • Promotes Independence: Translating documents into speech means users don’t need others to read to them, affording privacy for personal documents, adding to self-sufficiency.

How to Use The Plustek BookReader V100

To use the BookReader, simply place a book or document on the scanning platen and, with the touch of one button, the book is scanned for one's reading pleasure. With a single touch, the BookReader transforms printed words into audio output that can be archived in MP3 format for later access.
